The Senator Above Suisun City, 1851

The Senator was known in this time period as one of the fastest and safest vessels in service between the growing port city of San Francisco and Sacramento, the gateway to the gold fields of the northern Sierra foothills.

This view shows the Senator in the Sacramento Delta, a few miles above Suisun City, known today as Rio Linda.
